The Hike takes about 3 days; however, one needs to drive back and forth through the beautiful Himalayan range to complete the sacred journey. For thousands of devotees doing a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash is like seeking a higher blessing. Apart from the spiritual quest, one sure gets to see the unbelievable views of peaks and valleys. 

Arrive in Kathmandu and visit the ancient heritage sites which includes temples of Durbar Square, the prominent Pashupatinath temple and the architectural masterpiece Hanuman Dhoka. 

After exploring the eminent monuments of Nepal, you head to Tibet to start your pilgrimage to the holy mountain Kailash. A long journey by road, you will pass Nyalam, Saga, Paryang to actually begin your spiritual tour. 

Stop at the spiritually significant Chiu Gompa, which surprises you with the first glimpses of the shimmering Lake Mansarovar and Mount Kailash. Circle around the holy lake to reach Chiu Gompa. Reach Darchen, nearest village to Mount Kailash which also happens to be your start point. 

Accomplish your first level of hike as you reach Dirapuk monastery to retire for the day. Rise early to watch the glowing mountain with the first rays of the sun. Continue your hike to Zutul Puk Monastery; a challenging terrain, it treats you with mesmerizing views. Celebrate as you reach the highest point, Drolma La Pass. Next day you start descending towards Horche from where a vehicle will pick you up for further drive along overnight stops to reach Kathmandu.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Kathmandu

Airport pick up and transfer to the hotel. Rest and have a leisurely time to gear up for the tour. 

Day 2 - Kathmandu

Kathmandu takes you to impressive UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The ancient shrines display skillful architecture along with giving insights to their rich past and cultural practices. Explore the ancient temples at Durbar Square. Discover the ancient structures at Hanuman Dhoka, an architectural beauty and a former palace that has stunning courtyards and old temples to visit. Visit the prominent Pashupatinath temple, one of the holy shrines in Nepal. The temple has a huge footfall during Mahashivratri (February or March) to celebrate Lord Shiva.

Day 3 - Nyalam | Tibet

Start your journey towards Tibet. Reach Kodari (8HRS) and after completion of legal formalities at the border head to Nyalam via Zhangmu.

Day 4 - Nyalam

Before you set out to explore the beauty of Tibet, enjoy your stopover at Nyalam to get used to the new weather.

Day 5 - Saga

Enjoy a scenic drive (8HRS) to Saga amidst splendid views of high mountain pass Lalung La.

Day 6 - Paryang

Drive to Paryang (8HRS) Capture the spectacular distance views of Himalayas. 

Day 7 - Chiu Gompa

Get set for an exciting journey as you get your first glimpses of magnificent Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake. Drive (10HRS) to reach Chiu Gompa. Located on top of a hill, this high altitude monastery is one of the oldest that offers breathtaking views of Mansarovar Lake.

Day 8 - Darchen

Drive to Darchen (2HRS), a beautiful village by the foothills of Mt. Kailash. Rest well to embark on the challenging trek to the greatest Mt. Kailash.

Day 9 - Dirapuk

Take a 30 minutes drive to reach Tarboche, which is also your starting point of the hiking tour to reach Dirapuk monastery. (Approx 5 HRS) Camp at this serene sight as you accomplish your first level of trek.  

Day 10 - Zutul puk

Make a beautiful start to your day as you get to see Mt Kailash glowing along with the first rays of the sun. Begin your hike to reach Zutul Puk Monastery, a spiritual place to explore the splendour of nature. A 9 hours rigorous hike, will take you to panoramic views and is a perfect resting place. The hike takes you to the highest point, Drolma La Pass.

Day 11 - Horche

Start your day by hiking towards Zongdui, from where you will be picked up in a private vehicle and driven to Horche (2HRS). 

Day 12 - Paryang

Drive back to Paryang (11 HRS) Rest and overnight stay at the guesthouse.

Day 13 - Saga

Return to Saga (7 HRS) and rest at the guesthouse.

Day 14 - Nyalam

Drive to Nyalam (8HRS) and overnight stay at the guesthouse.

Day 15 - Kathmandu

Head to Kathmandu to rest before you go ahead with your forward journey. 

Day 16 - Departure

Take a flight home with sweet memories of Nepal.
