Asiatic lions, listed as endangered by IUCN, are also called Persian lions. Thousands of years ago, these Asiatic lions, now found only in Gujarat in India, had inhabited most part of southwest Asia. Not just the lions, as Gir National Park in Gujarat is home to leopards, wild boar, hyenas and antelopes among a wide range of species. Around 300 species of birds are found here. Gir Forest is also famous for being home to the largest numbers of marsh crocodiles in the whole of India.

Blackbuck Velavadar National Park is a dream destination for bird lovers. Spanning an area of 34.8 sq.km of land, Blackbuck is famous for its unique landscape that consists of shrublands, grasslands, plains and mudflats. And of course, blackbucks, which are among the fastest animals on land.

Little Rann of Kutch is a must-visit destination for its rich biodiversity. Covering a massive area of 4954 square kilometres, Little Rann has a very unique ecosystem. The critically endangered wild ass has a dedicated home in the Wild Ass Sanctuary here. Bird lovers can have a great time watching the stunning range of birds here including migratory birds.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Delhi Arrival

Arrival at Delhi on Day 1. Pick up from the airport and transport to the hotel. Optional local sightseeing.

Day 2 - Gir National Park

Fly from Delhi to Rajkot (1¾ hours). Drive to Gir National Park (4½ hours). Settle down in the hotel and indulge in the luxury of the hotel for the rest of the day.

Day 3, 4 and 5 - Gir National Park

Go on safaris on all the three days to spot the majestic Asiatic lion, which is not found anywhere else in the world. While you are at it, look for leopards, wild boars, hyenas and crocodiles. Gir is also home to a wide range of birds including flamingos, cranes and Indian pitta.

Day 6 - Blackbuck Velavadar National Park

Drive from Gir to Velavadar (approximately 5.00 hours). The route in which you travel is typical of rural India with sights of herdsmen guiding their livestock in the lands. Relax in the luxury hotel surrounded by serene nature.

Day 7 - Blackbuck Velavadar National Park

As the name suggests, blackbuck is the highlight here. However, there are many other wild animals to watch, including wolves and hyena. The stunning varieties of bird species found here conquers your mind.

Day 8 - Ahmedabad

Drive to Ahmedabad (3 hours). Check in at the hotel and after resting for a while you can go on a shopping spree in the city. Don’t miss dining out at the eateries.

Day 9 - Little Rann of Kutch

Drive to Little Rann of Kutch (4 hours). Go on a safari at Little Rann of Kutch, a vast desert, offers a lot to explore. You can spot wild animals including fox and hyena. Wild Ass Sanctuary is also located here which was created to protect the endangered wild ass. 

Day 10 - Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary

Explore Indian wild ass sanctuary to spot the endangered wild ass. This sanctuary is also home to a wide range of animals including jackals and foxes and birds such as flamingos and spoonbills.

Day 11 - Delhi

Drive to Ahmedabad (4 hours) for a flight to Delhi (approximately 1½ hours)

Day 12 - Departure from Delhi
