Winter: Winters can be harsh and unbearable for many who can find it difficult to be at this high altitude. With heavy snow, most roads can be inaccessible to most parts of Ladakh by road. The sun shines better between March to June and makes exploring all parts easy.

Summer: March to June are the best days to plan a trip as most paths are clear of snow and temperature is bearable. Though it continues to be cold and temperatures dip at night, it is much favourable to explore most mountain ranges, lakes and other destinations. Summer also hosts interesting Ladakhi festivals.

Monsoon: Ladakh falls under the rain shadow zone and receives less or no rainfall. The sky is often clear and favourable for trekking or river rafting. The temperatures keep fluctuating but far better than cold winters.

In general Ladakh is a cold region and heavy snowfall can obstruct commuting. March to June should be considered to make the most of this beautiful land.
