Drive to Punakha, en route visit the Chimi Lhakhang, a holy place sitting beautifully on top of a hill. It is a popular place where couples visit to seek blessing to bear a child. A scenic and calm place one can find many fertility and positive symbols. Feel free to learn about the traditions as you get to speak to the monks.
Get ready to be mesmerized as you visit Punakha Dzong, a majestic fortress that comes to live during spring when lilac Jacaranda comes to bloom. Also referred to as the palace of happiness, you truly experience peace exploring this fortress. Walk on a spiritual path as you visit Chorten Nyingo temple which is popular for its spiritual significance. It boasts of impressive Bhutanese architecture with intricate work and murals. You take a scenic drive through rice fields, beautiful villages and sprawling natural beauty.
Enjoy mesmerizing views of Wang Chhu and Paro Chhu rivers as you drive through Dochula Pass. Discover the history and beauty of traditional artefacts as you visit the National Museum of Bhutan. You also get a closer look at the ancient scroll painting called Thangka. Later head to Rinpung Dzong, Bhutanese architectural marvel now used for administrative purposes.
Challenge yourself to hike up the remarkable Taktsang Monastery, an architectural masterpiece and holy place of Buddha hanging by the cliff. Also known as the Tiger’s Nest it is a sacred site which encourages many to hike up for spiritual reasons and break taking views. Celebrate your hike with a glass of champagne, snacks amidst local performances. Later follow the traditional ritual of burning a butter lamp as you stop at the ancient shrines Kyichu Lhakhang.
