The shimmering sand dunes at high altitude are best explored sitting on a double hump camel or a fun ATV ride. The valley is also home to 100 feet Maitreya Buddha Statue and largest Diskit monastery.
The calm and charming Sumur Village takes you to the secluded dunes. Hike up to visit the panoramic Yarab Tso Lake. Heal and relax as you step into the Panamik hot springs. Stop at the Samstem Ling Gompa and Ensa Monastery.
The shimmering Pangong Lake is a treat to the eyes for its unparalleled beauty. Next day take a route less travelled as you drive over the Kaksang La Pass. Discover the unspoiled Mirpal Tso Lake, Yaya Tso Lake and Kyagar Tso lake, all surrounded by diverse and stunning landscapes. Get to capture the Tibetan foxes and wolves at Tso Moriri.
Stop at geothermal springs at Puga valley. Ride over the challenging Tanglang Pass for incredible views. Visit the diverse and beautiful Tso Kar and Startsapuk Tso Lake. Set out on a beautiful drive to Nubra Valley through one of the highest motorable routes Khardung La Pass that treats you to delightful views. As you arrive in Nubra Valley visit the 250 years old Diskit monastery and a little further the 100 feet Maitreya Buddha Statue impresses you with its excellent craftsmanship. Explore the finest gem of Nubra Valley the Sand Dunes at Hunder with a unique ride on a Bactrian Camel – friendly double hump mammals. Enjoy thrilling activities like ATV rides in the dunes or go-karting.
Head to the serene Sumur Village which has gained popularity due to the presence of sacred Samstem Ling Gompa. Have a peaceful outing at the Dunes of Sumur which are secluded and offer private time. Enjoy a short hike to Yarab Tso Lake which is considered holy and is amidst beautiful natural setup. Take a dip at the Panamik hot springs known for the presence of sulphur which has a curing effect on your body. Hike up to one of the oldest Ensa Monastery which gracefully sits on a rock offering splendid views. Head back to spend the night at Nubra Valley.
Capture panoramic views as you drive towards Tso Pangong lake via Shyok River. Get mesmerised by the view of crystal clear water of the magical Pangong lake best known for displaying different colours as the sun shifts its position. This lake attracts various migratory and rare birds and is a complete bliss for the wonderful surroundings. A stay by the camp is a treat as you get to watch the dark sky dazzling with stars.
Head to Tso Moriri amidst scenic views which also takes you to the India-Tibet Border and lets you capture the beauty of Pangong lake on one side. Drive over the challenging Kaksang La, one of the highest passes. Stop at Mirpal Tso Lake which is surrounded by mighty mountains with untouched beauty at a remote location. Little further visit another charming lake, Yaya Tso Lake. Relax at the serene and undiscovered Kyagar Tso lake for beautiful views.
Wake up to the beauty of nature and be ready to capture Tibetian foxes and wolves who frequent Tso Moriri. Pet the furry marmots who belong to the squirrel family and are often found here. Make a quick stop by the geothermal springs at Puga valley. Later get set for an adventurous ride over the Tanglang Pass, one of the highest and hardest motorable passes. Explore unique geographical features as you stop at the salt water lake Tso Kar and freshwater lake Startsapuk Tso Lake. Reach Karu by evening.
